Pursuant to Article 9 of Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, visas have validity periods as below:
- Visas under category SQ are issued to cases under clause 3, Article 17 of above Law and valid for no longer than 30 days.
- Visas under categories HN and DL are issued to expats who enter Vietnam for attending seminars, conferences or tourism and valid for no longer than 3 months.
- Visas under category VR are issued to expats who enter Vietnam to visit relatives and have validity period of 6 months or shorter.
- Visas under category LD are issued to expats who enter Vietnam for employment and valid for no longer than 2 years.
- Visas under category DT are issued to foreign investors and valid for no longer than 5 years.
- Visas under categories NG1, NG2, NG3, NG4, LV1, LV2, DN, NN1, NN2, NN3, DH, PV1, PV2 and TT are valid for no longer than 12 months.
